The BoavistaWindClub was established in 1995 by François Guy.
Now it is managed by Gorazd Borstnar and Tomas Lahajner from Slovenja.

The SPOT is situated in a bay with an OFF SHORE WIND, so, there is NO CHOPPY WATER no matter how strong the wind is, yet it is fully exposed to NW & North BIG SWELL of the ATLANTIC (except the windsurf club, which is protected by a small island.

BIG-SWELL generally comes to us at the same time as the big depressions of the North Atlantic arrive at the coast of Portugal and France. We can predict almost 10 days in advance when the SWELL will arrive and check the weather forecast on the INTERNET web site of the US NAVY www.fnmoc.navy.mil/PUBLIC/ , where wind movements are also predicted. Of course, we follow the weather conditions on a daily basis.

Advantages of our spot:

• There are no shorebreaks the starting & landing area in front of the station which is 15m off the see (Such conditions provide you an easy change of your sail or board)
• Extremely safe bay with no curents.
• The water in the lagoon is from 1 to 2m deep.
• No sharks, but take care of the turtles & whales (from February to May)
• Many different WAVE-SPOT of all sizes for all levels of wave-riding (from BEGINNERS to EXPERTS) on the same day and, only a few minutes off the windsurf club.
• When there is the Big Swell, the free-riders who are not eager to try it, can ride flat water in the protection of the small island.
• If there is NO SWELL, RACES around the small island can be organised, or, imagine a winged RUN along the white sandy beach of dunes…it is one of the most magnificent you can find in the world….
